Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 1,500 FRSC personnel and logistics vehicles ahead of the Anambra State gubernatorial election scheduled for November 8, 2025.

Corps Marshal, Shehu Muhammad who disclosed this in Awka said the deployment was to ensure a smooth election process.

The Corps Marshal was represented by Assistant Corps Marshal ST Agure, Federal Operations, National Headquarters, Abuja.

The State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Bridget Asekhauno, welcomed the Corps Marshal to Anambra State.

She briefed him on the activities that have taken place in the past week leading up to the election, which included training sessions conducted by INEC officials, security meetings, signing of peace accord by contestants, and certification of vehicles designated for transporting electoral materials by FRSC personnel.

Additionally, she informed the Corps Marshal of the further deployment of personnel and logistics vehicles from nearby states including Edo, Delta, Imo, and Enugu.

She noted that FRSC will collaborate with other security agencies to block all entrances into Anambra starting at 1200 midnight on Friday in order to restrict movement.

A strategy has been developed to ensure the free flow of electoral materials from one point to another. Furthermore, a staff member has been assigned to the situation room with staff from other security agencies to report any emergency.

Addressing the staff on election modalities, Agure conveyed greetings from the Corps Marshal.

He advised personnel to dress appropriately for easy identification, to remain civil with the public, and to avoid being overly zealous on election day.

Agure emphasized the importance of maintaining professionalism and refraining from any conduct that could undermine the image of the Corps.

While reminding the officers that all certified vehicles must be roadworthy, the FRSC boss urged staff to work in coordination with other agencies in the state.

He distributed booklets titled “Code of Conduct & Rules of Engagement for Security Personnel on Electoral Duty” to aid personnel on proper conduct during the election.

The State Sector Commander reaffirms the Command’s commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and peaceful election process.

“We urge all road users to cooperate with our personnel and other security agencies to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and the transportation of electoral materials.

“We also appeal to the public to report any emergencies or suspicious activities to our command center or the nearest FRSC Unit. Together, let’s make the Anambra gubernatorial election a success,” she added.
