The meeting followed the shooting incident reported at Head Bridge, Onitsha, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, and was aimed at strengthening operational supervision, accountability and professionalism among police personnel operating within the Onitsha axis.

During the meeting, CP Nnanna directed the Area Commander and the DPOs to provide detailed briefings on the security situation and policing activities in their respective areas of responsibility.

Particular attention was given to measures for preventing and promptly addressing any form of unprofessional conduct by officers and men serving under their commands.

The Commissioner warned that any police officer found abusing the powers entrusted to him or engaging in conduct inconsistent with the professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force would face appropriate disciplinary action in line with established regulations.

CP Nnanna reiterated his zero-tolerance policy towards unprofessional conduct, stressing that no individual or group of police personnel would be permitted to undermine public trust and confidence in the Force.

“No police officer is above the law or the regulations guiding the Nigeria Police Force. Any personnel found abusing the powers entrusted to him will face appropriate disciplinary action,” the Commissioner stated.

He further charged the DPOs to strengthen internal supervision, maintain effective command and control, ensure strict compliance with professional standards and promptly address genuine complaints from residents, traders and business owners within their respective areas of responsibility.

The Commissioner assured residents of Onitsha and the people of Anambra State that the Command remains committed to providing effective, professional, accountable and people-oriented policing.

He also encouraged members of the public to report security concerns and genuine complaints through appropriate channels, including the Commissioner of Police’s dedicated WhatsApp line, 09169531886.

CP Nnanna assured the public that credible complaints received through the channel would be given the necessary attention and appropriately investigated.

The strategy meeting underscores the Command’s renewed emphasis on accountability, effective supervision and professional policing, particularly in Onitsha, one of Anambra State’s major commercial centres.
