Ember Months: FRSC, Stakeholders Strategise on Traffic Management Ahead of Yuletide

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Command has identified impatience, reckless driving and illegal parking and loading/unloading as responsible for traffic gridlocks in the state.

Sector Commander, Bridget Asekhauno stated this at a stakeholders’ meeting at the Onitsha Unit Command attended by representatives from various transport companies, law enforcement agencies, among others.

She emphasized the importance of teamwork, idea sharing and coordination to achieve a seamless operation during the ember months.

According to her, the engagement was in preparation for the Christmas season and the expected increase in traffic.

She said, “The purpose of the meeting is to discuss strategies for managing traffic congestion at the Bridge Head during the holiday season.

“The aim is to promote collaboration and synergy for effective traffic management and to ensure free vehicular movement during the ember month period.”

Asekhauno urged drivers to prioritize their safety by exercising patience, avoiding reckless driving and refraining from illegal parking and loading/unloading.

She also stressed the need for deployment of tow trucks for prompt removal of broken-down vehicles, clearing of obstructions.

The Unit Head of Operations, Onitsha, CRC Ukamaka Nwokeocha appreciated the Sector Commander for organizing the initiative, urging participants to implement the discussions to ensure smooth traffic flow during the ember months.

Participants, including members from the Police, State Traffic Management Agency (ATMA) and representatives of transport companies made valuable contributions and shared practical suggestions to improve traffic flow in the command area.

They pledged to work in harmony with the Corps to achieve successful traffic management operation during the festive season.
