The President General of Anaku in AnyamelumLocal Government Area of Anambra state has expressed disappointment over what they termed politicization of government owned projects in the community.
They described the ugly development as purely handiwork of opposition, warning those behind the act to desist forthwith or face the consequences.
The warning followed trending video showing persons suspected to be members of the opposition who stormed the the newly commissioned General Hospital, labeling it a non-functional facility.
Addressing newsmen President General of Anaku community, Nwuba Paul onyebuchi promised Governor Chukwuma Soludo of unraveling those behind the act.
He also pledged the community’s readiness to take full ownership and protection of the hospital and other projects in the area.
He said, “We’re not part nor in support of the controversial video. It’s purely the handiwork of opposition. We’re very sorry for the ugly development.
“It’s unfortunate the way people politicize everything just to rubbish the good of their opponent. But we won’t tolerate anyone trying to politicize development in this community, including the hospital.
We promise the governor to look into the matter and report back to him. We’re also pledging adequate protection of the hospital and other projects in the area.
“We’re taking full ownership of the facilities and ready to protect them. This hospital is our life. All the surgeries here are done free of charge.
Appreciating the governor for remembering the community after decades of abandonment, the community prayed he returned for second term to continue the good work he’s doing.
“I’m here with the leaders of various age grades to appreciate the governor and Commissioner for Health for this hospital. We’ve been longing for this for decades. We’re glad at last, the hospital is a reality in Anyamelum.
“Before now, we access healthcare as far as Onitsha and Otuocha as there was no single hospital in the area. The distance and the deplorable condition of our roads worsened our case. Before we take a patient to any hospital outside this community, some die on the road.
Clarifying the trending video, Chief Admin of the hospital, Otuonye Justice said it was worrisome the extent individuals could go in fighting development in the name of politics.
“We were inside the hospital that morning when they rushed in shouting “madu na-anwu anwu” (someone is dying). The entrance door was closed but not locked because that was still early and nurses on night duty were still around with few patients.
“When they rushed in, they tapped the door and claimed it was locked, shouting that the hospital was a scam. Before we could open, they’ve disappeared.
“Meanwhile, the video they did while claiming the hospital was under lock and key had already started trending online. I quickly made a counter video, dismissing the video as false and clarifying it with a functional hospital.”
“The hospital was commissioned a day before the incident and since then has been fully functional. Their target is just to tarnish the good work the government is doing.
