Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State has expressed optimism in the overwhelming support he would receive from people of Oyi local government area in the November 8 gubernatorial election.

Soludo said the expectation stemmed from the support he received from the same community in both 2010 and 2021 elections.

Addressing the crowd at the Nteje local government headquarters, Soludo described the visit as a homecoming for him, promising not to take the people’s support for granted.

“Oyi has been a stronghold for me. In 2010, Oyi voted for me; the same in 2021. This is a homecoming for me. I appreciate all your support and will not take it for granted,” he said.

Chairman of the local government, Hon. Emma Nweke highlighted significant turnout the community is expected to produce at the poll.

“Oyi will make a resounding statement at the forthcoming governorship election. We are committed to returning the Governor for a second term of four years,” he said.

At the Otuocha Township Stadium, Aguleri, Anambra East Local government, the Governor described the campaign as both a “divine project and a mass movement.”

He expressed gratitude to Anambra East, who he credited for their active involvement in organizing and funding the event, stressing the grassroots support that has fueled his political journey.

“It has never happened in the state before where communities and the people have taken over the campaign and donated money to fund the campaign,” he remarked.

Soludo urged the people to make their voices heard by coming out and vote on November 8, underscoring the importance of transparency in the electoral process.

“We expect you to speak again in your polling units. On November 8, the votes will be cast; they should be counted and announced,” he added.

Highlighting his confidence in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Governor stated, “I am hopeful that Anambra will be a model election for INEC.”

Chairman, Anambra East Local Government Area, Mr. Ifeanyi Nweze, remarked, “Governor Soludo’s commitment to our community is evident in every initiative he undertakes. His proactive stance has made a tangible difference in our lives.”

While Oyi made a presentation of a cheque of N80million, Anambra East donated N50million to support the Governor’s campaign.
