Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Limited, has slammed a ₦100 Billion lawsuit against Cleansimur International Limited over the later’s alleged counterfeiting and unlawfully imitating Jigsimur’s registered herbal surplement’s patent, label, and bottle design.

The lawsuit was filed by the firm, a subsidiary of JIGSIMUR SA ORIGINAL (PTY) LTD, a duly registered South African company and the legitimate exclusive producer of the original JIGSIMUR SA ORIGINAL-Y61977 herbal health products, through its legal representatives, Chief (Sir) Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Esq., of I. C Ejiofor & Co.

Ejiofor disclosed, in a statement issued on September 29, 2025 that the landmark suit filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos, in Suit No: FHC/CS/19525, was decisive legal step to protect Jigsimur’s intellectual and industrial property rights and stop Cleansimur International Limited from taking a calculated bid to mislead unsuspecting consumers and unlawfully appropriate Jigsimur’s hard-earned reputation and market share.

The statement read: “Investigations reveal that the promoters of Cleansimur International deliberately coined a name strikingly similar to Jigsimur, and went further to copy its registered bottle design, label, and brand inscription, thereby flooding the Nigerian market with deceptive products virtually indistinguishable from the original Jigsimur Plus health drink. This deliberate act of passing off has caused grave confusion among consumers, substantial reputational damage, and colossal financial losses to Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Limited.

According to Ejiofor, Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Limited is seeking redress before the Court, demanding ₦100 Billion in General, Exemplary, and Aggravated Damages for the injury done to its goodwill, reputation, and market position. The statement disclosed that,

“Jigsimur Plus is also asking the Court for far-reaching remedies, including: Declarations that Cleansimur’s use of the infringing label, name, and bottle design constitutes a flagrant violation of Jigsimur’s registered patents and designs, amounting to unfair competition, unlawful misrepresentation, and injurious falsehood.

“A Perpetual Injunction restraining Cleansimur International Limited, its agents, distributors, and affiliates, from further infringing on Jigsimur’s rights or passing off its counterfeit product in Nigeria.

“Orders compelling regulatory agencies, including NAFDAC, SON, and the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, to seize, impound, and destroy all infringing Cleansimur products across Nigeria’s markets, warehouses, and online platforms.

“An award of ₦200 Million in special damages for the cost of litigation, investigations, and enforcement of Jigsimur’s intellectual property rights. And a post-judgment interest on all sums awarded until final satisfaction of judgment.
The legal counsel further disclosed that the landmark suit underscores Jigsimur Plus Nigeria Limited’s unwavering commitment to protecting its intellectual and industrial property as well as its brand integrity. “It also serves as a stern warning to counterfeiters, impostors, and fraudulent operators seeking to exploit consumer trust and goodwill in Nigeria’s rapidly expanding herbal health industry.
“The case has been filed and is currently awaiting formal assignment to a trial court”, he adds.
