His remains were taken to Umuonuorah, Mmiata Anam, where he was buried amid tears and wailing.
Reacting to the tragedy, the President General of Umuoba Anam Youth Forum, Comrade Onyebuchi Mmeh, described the teenager’s death as a devastating loss, disclosing that the number of Anam youths reportedly killed in the crisis had risen to three.
“We are in deep pain over the death of Master Monday Chizoba Ikechukwu. These are youths with great futures who should still be alive today if not for this unfortunate incident,” Mmeh said.
He added that the loss was particularly painful because Ikechukwu had spent more than 11 days fighting for his life, despite significant financial efforts to save him.
The youth leader urged Umuoba Anam youths, Ndị Mmiata and the bereaved family to bear the loss with fortitude.
“Our message to everyone affected by this tragic incident is to bear the loss with fortitude. We cannot question God,” he said.
Mmeh appealed to residents to remain calm and support ongoing efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully. He reaffirmed Umuoba Anam’s commitment to peace and welcomed the peace initiative of the Anambra State Government under Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo.

Meanwhile, the President General of Umuoba Anam Town Union, Hon. Uchenna Anizor, also expressed regret over the teenager’s death, urging the state government and security agencies to take urgent steps to prevent further bloodshed.
He appealed to Umuoba Anam youths to maintain calm and cooperate with relevant authorities, while calling on security agencies and other stakeholders to intensify efforts towards lasting peace.
“The security agencies and the State Government should please take note of this development and ensure that similar occurrences do not take place again at Otuocha,” Anizor said.
“We must not allow the blood of these innocent, unarmed youths to go in vain.”
