National Coalition for Good Governance (CGG) has thrown its weight behind the governorship bid of Labour Party candidate, Dr George Moghalu, following the inauguration of its Anambra State chapter in Awka.
Addressing the gathering, Moghalu said the endorsement reaffirmed his conviction that the movement for a greater Anambra was firmly on track.
He lamented worsening insecurity in the state, which, according to him, has crippled economic activities and discouraged investors.
โAnambra is not where it is supposed to be. This is the only state in the world where they use Aka Odo to collect tax.
“The level of insecurity now is alarming and it is affecting everyone. That is why we have not attracted any investment.
“But if you see these challenges today, by this time next year you shall see them no more,โ he declared.
Emphasizing that leadership is about service and sacrifice and not personal gain, Moghalu quipped, “When you demand equity and good governance, you are demanding the right thing.
“November 8th is not just an election; it is a serious business. I’m running on the platform of the Labour Party to give our people the government they deserve.
“As you think about me, think about Peter Obi because I will always support him, and together we will restore our state.โ
Earlier, National Chairman of CGG, Engr. Okey Chikwendu described Moghalu as a man of unquestionable integrity and leader whose record of service has remained consistent.
โI have known him over the years; his integrity is intact. He is credible and I can attest to him. I’m glad he is here today and I thank him for what he has done for us.
“We will support him one hundred percent,โ he assured.
The event was attended by both state and national leadership of CGG, alongside party faithful, community leaders and professionals, all united in their demand for new direction in Anambra politics.
