The Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria (TOAN) has formally declared support for the reelection of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyeka Ibezim, in the November 8, 2025 Anambra governorship election.

The endorsement was made during a town hall meeting at Awka South Local Government Secretariat, where members from the 21 LGAs in the state unveiled campaign stickers to be pasted on tricycles across Anambra as part of grassroots mobilization.

Representing the Awka South LGA Chairman, Sir Peter Iyanwunne urged members to stand with Soludo, describing him as “a governor thinking for the next generation.” He emphasized that Soludo administration had delivered notable development within three years. He highlighted Soludo achievements, such as free maternal care, free basic education, recruitment of over 8,000 teachers, road construction, and the Solution Fun City project.

Speaking on behalf of the Commissioner for Transportation, Barr. Patricia Igwebuike, Mr. Mike Ibekwe commended TOAN as the only legally recognized transport union in the state and praised their unity and inclusion in the tax system. He urged members to support Soludo reelection.

In his remarks, TOAN State Chairman Comrade Donatus Ezeanuna said the meeting provided an avenue to address challenges facing members, including issues with ARTMA and OCHA Brigade. He assured that their concerns would be taken up by the Ministry of Transport.

TOAN State Secretary, Mr. Linus Ufoh, appealed to government to lift the suspension on the union welfare collection, noting that the six-month suspension had lingered for over two years. He said lifting the ban would enable the union to resume full operations across the 21 LGAs and better sensitize their over 26,000 members ahead of the election.

Also speaking, the Awka South TOAN Chairman, Prince Collins Ozojiofor, said the unveiling of the campaign stickers was to show clear direction to members and the public that the association stands firmly with Soludo and his deputy.

He said the objective was to let the opposition know that tricycle operators, popularly known as ‘keke riders,’ had already chosen the path of good governance represented by Soludo.

He assured that Awka South members would mobilize massively to deliver votes for the governor while thanking the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) Dr. Ossy Onuko, Patron of TOAN Hon. Emeka Jude and Managing Director of OCHA Bridge Mr. Celestine Anere for their support.

TOAN leaders and members, including Ismahila Adamu and Chibuzor James emphasized that their support was anchored on Soludo record of good governance. They pledged to mobilize their members to vote massively for the governor.
