Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) has condemned attitude of certain appointees of the Anambra state government in meddling into internal affairs of the body in the state.

National Trustee, Comrade Mou Victor who stated this at a press briefing at the union Secretariat in Awka, identified one of such interferences as handling local government funds under the Ministry of Local Government Affairs.

He said the ugly development was part of the 5-point communique reached at the end of the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held in Abuja last Thursday.

He regretted that such arrangements had created disharmony in the union, calling on the state governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo for his quick intervention.

“NEC-in-session frown and condemn the attitude of some state government appointees in meddling into the internal affairs of NULGE at the level of Anambra state by recognizing group of people who are not members.

“NULGE therefore calls on state Governor, Prof Charles Soludo to caution all his appointees who are handling local government funds under the Ministry of Local Government Affairs to desist from interfering into union matter.

“This is a precondition to guarantee industrial peace and harmony,” he said.

Muo added, “It’s unfortunate that Anambra is being dragged into this murky waters despite the fact that Mr governor is a labour-friendly governor.

“It’s obvious some members have been bought over by some politicians and are masquerading themselves as executives. This industrial disharmony must be resisted by all well-meaning members.

“There’s nothing like factions in Anambra NULGE. We have only one recognized and authentic NULGE led by Comrade Uyawunne Eucharia, State Secretary, Comrade Ike Abugu and other executive members.”

Earlier, Acting President, Uyawune Eucharia had expressed disappointment over diversion of money meant for the body to private account.

“We’re not happy with what’s happening in NULGE. Lot of things are going wrong, including our money that was credited to unknown group.

“We’re appealing to our dear Governor Chukwuma Soludo to come to our rescue by talking to his appointees.

“Let him direct the office of Accountant- General of local government to redirect our check off dues appropriately without further delay,” she said.
