Diocese on the Niger Laity Assured of Victory, Dominion through Commitment to God

The House of Laity of the Anglican Diocese on the Niger has been reassured of Victory and Dominion as members renew their commitment to God.

The reassurance was given by the Diocesan Laity President, Sir Chris Ukachukwu at St. Michael and All Angels Anglican Church, SMAAAC, NKPOR Junction during the 2025 Diocese on the Niger Council of Laity Congress hosted by Nkpor New Covenant Archdeaconry.

According to Sir Ukachukwu, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the Captain of our salvation, has given us the assurance of Victory and Dominion.

“We are gathered today as the House of Laity in this annual congress to renew our commitment to God, to strengthen our fellowship, and to chart a course for the future growth of our beloved Diocese. The theme before us—Victory and Dominion—is not just a slogan; it is a spiritual reality rooted in Scripture.

“The Word of God reminds us in 1 John 5:4, “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” Also, in Genesis 1:28, God commanded man to “be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion.” Victory and dominion, therefore, are the heritage of every believer who walks in faith and obedience.

“1. Victory Through Commitment to God:
Victory does not come by chance; it comes by consistent commitment to the things of God. The laity, as the backbone of the church, must be steadfast in worship, prayer, and in holy living. A committed laity brings strength, stability, and revival to the church.

“2. Dominion Through Service and Sacrifice: Dominion is not about power for its own sake, but about responsibility. It means exercising spiritual authority to expand the Kingdom of God in our families, communities, and workplaces. The church cannot grow if the laity remains passive. We must be fully involved in evangelism, discipleship, stewardship, and in supporting the mission of the Diocese.

“3. The Call to Greater Commitment:
Beloved, the time calls for us to rise above mediocrity and lukewarmness. Let us shun complacency and be more deliberate in our service to God. Commitment means: Supporting the church financially and morally, Using our skills and resources to advance God’s work, Actively participating in parish and diocesan programs and Standing as light and salt in society.

“If the laity is committed, the Diocese will flourish, the Gospel will spread, and the name of the Lord will be glorified. we are not called to defeat but to victory, not to slavery but to dominion. Let us therefore arise in faith and obedience, knowing that in Christ we are more than conquerors.

“As we deliberate in this congress, may our decisions and resolutions reflect our determination to live victoriously and exercise dominion in Christ Jesus.May the God of Victory and Dominion bless this congress and grant us renewed strength to serve Him faithfully,” said Ukachukwu.
