Anambra state government has cautioned owners and heads of schools across the State against closure of schools on Mondays.
Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh gave the warning on Monday while visiting some schools in the state on the first day of resumption.
She reminded Principals/Headteachers and Proprietors/Proprietresses of schools that their schools were expected to remain open on Mondays.
According to Chuma-Udeh, under no circumstances should schools be closed on Mondays, warning that any school that failed to comply with the directive would be held accountable.
She said, “May I inform Principals/Headteachers and Proprietors/Proprietresses of schools that the 2025/2026 Academic Session officially resumes today, Monday, 8th September, 2025.
“You are hereby reminded that all schools across the State are expected to remain open on Mondays.
“Any school that fails to comply with this directive will be held accountable. Under no circumstances should schools be closed on Mondays.”
