Operatives of the Anambra state Police Command have arrested a 48-year-old man involved in production of counterfeit and potentially toxic soft drinks at Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state.

Spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga in a statement said the suspect, identified as Chigozie Okafor, was apprehended after police uncovered and dismantled an illegal factory engaged in the production of unregulated soft drinks.

He said the operatives recovered a large quantity of fake beverages branded as โ€œIyi Obeleagu Juiceโ€ from the site.

“The products were reportedly being manufactured without the approval of the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
