Anambra Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has pledged to tackle road decay and advance grassroots infrastructure, beginning with the rehabilitation of critical roads in Iyiowa Odekpe, Ogbaru Council Area of the State.

Governor Soludo made the pledge during his visit to the area on Monday, September 1, 2025, where he inspected a road project connecting New Road to Ihitenansa, to Asha, and to School Road.

He acknowledged the dilapidated condition of failed portions of the road and assured residents of immediate commencement of work on the road to ameliorate their sufferings.

“Ogbaru is one of the three Local Government Areas that kept my hope alive after contesting the gubernatorial election in 2010. Though I began work in Okpoko and commenced construction of the Nkisi–Atani–Ozubulu road, which will soon be completed, my attention has been repeatedly drawn to Iyiowa Odekpe,” the Governor stated.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of every part of Anambra State.

In a show of solidarity, the Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly and member representing Ogbaru Constituency 1, Rt. Hon. Somtochukwu Udeze, applauded Soludo’s developmental strides, assuring constituents that the Governor is deliberate and intentional about transforming every part of the State, including its most remote communities.

The Mayor of Ogbaru Council Area, Sir Kenneth Akwuobi, also praised Soludo for extending inclusive democratic dividends to Ndi Ogbaru and expressed confidence that his transformational leadership would be sustained.

Meanwhile, Governor Soludo issued a stern warning against the regrouping of “bad boys” in the hinterland of Ogbaru, making it clear that his administration will deploy decisive action to secure the area. He stressed that peace and security remain indispensable to grassroots development and reaffirmed his resolve to protect Ndi Ogbaru while sustaining the infrastructural revolution across Anambra State.
