Anambra Guber Race: Awka Ward 8 Residents Pledge Support for Soludo

Residents and stakeholders of Awka Ward 8 have pledged their support for Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo’s second-term bid following the commissioning of the rehabilitated Book Foundation Road/Esther Obiakor Boulevard in Agu-Awka, Anambra State.

The project, executed by Anambra State Government through Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) led by the Managing Director Dr. Ossy Onuko had community leaders, transport operators and political stakeholders in attendance.

Addressing Journalists, the Secretary of Awka South Local Government Area, Sir Peter Iyanwunne, who represented the Mayor, Prince Chinedu Okafor, hailed Governor Soludo’s commitment to infrastructure development. He said the road had provided a lasting solution to flooding and poor accessibility that had plagued the area for years.

Also speaking, Chairman of APGA Ward 8, Mr. Nathan Obikwelu, described the project as a major relief and pledged that the ward would deliver “overwhelming votes” for Soludo in the November 8 governorship election. He further cautioned tricycle and vehicle operators against indiscriminate dumping of refuse into drainage , warning that offenders would face prosecution in mobile courts.

The Chairman of the Tricycle Owners Association of Nigeria Awka Zone, Prince Collins Ozojiofor, stated that the new road had eased the financial burden on transporters who previously spent heavily on vehicle repairs. He commended Soludo for “listening to the cries of operators.”

Other speakers, including APGA Ward 8 Vice Chairman, Comrade Uchegbu Onyeka, Chairman of Motorcycle Riders, Mohammed Audu and Councillor Ward 8, Maduebunam Olisa also praised the governor. They observed that transport fares along the route had dropped from ₦400 to ₦200 following the rehabilitation and they unanimously pledged to rally support for Soludo’s re-election bid, vowing to deliver 100 percent of Ward 8 votes to the governor in the forthcoming election.
