A significant step towards revolutionizing market security in Anambra State was taken as a delegation led by CB GOFRAM Agro inspected the test-running of newly installed Artificial Intelligence (AI) Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems at the New Auto Spare Parts Market, Nkpor.
Key stakeholders unanimously declared that this initiative marks the beginning of the end for insecurity in the state’s commercial hubs.
The inspection team featured prominent figures: Archbishop Onyeka Nzekwesi (Pineleaf Estate Homes Ltd), Chief Chukwugozie Bob Francis Nzekwesi (Managing Director, CB GOFRAM Agro), Barr. Titus Akpudo (Anambra State Marshall General), Chief Humphrey Anuna (President General, ASMATA), and Chief Stephen Oforleh (Chairman, New Auto Spare Parts Market, Nkpor).
Archbishop Nzekwesi, whose company Pineleaf conceived the initiative, highlighted its transformative potential: “Burglary, fire incidents, and robbery will become very difficult. These solar-powered CCTV cameras operate 24/7, monitored centrally within the market and at the ASMATA Secretariat in Onitsha.”
He emphasized the project’s structure as a Private-Public-Community Partnership (PPCP) approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo, who he described as “straightforward” and driven by a desire for innovation and development. “It’s a new dawn in Anambra,” Nzekwesi stated.
Chief Chukwugozie Bob Francis Nzekwesi, the project contractor, detailed the technology: “These top-notch AI CCTV cameras capture clearly day and night, crucial for apprehending offenders and supporting Governor Soludo’s vision to make Anambra the ‘Dubai-Taiwan of Africa’.” He revealed CB GOFRAM Agro, a Pineleaf subsidiary, is tasked with installing these systems in over 180 markets statewide. Issuing a stern warning, he advised criminals: “Your time is up. Steal or cause a fire, and you will be caught.”
Market Chairman Chief Stephen Oforleh confirmed the system’s functionality, noting its extensive coverage within the market and key surrounding areas like the nearby expressway flyover. “I’m impressed with the AI technology and quality of installation. Test-running is nearly complete, and we anticipate commissioning this August,” Oforleh said. He linked the project to the broader success of ‘Operation Udogachi/Agunechemba’ in reducing crime, reinforcing the message: “Criminals should leave Anambra.”
At the ASMATA Secretariat in Onitsha, housing the central control room, Barr. Titus Akpudo (State Marshall General & Legal Adviser to Pineleaf) underscored the system’s societal impact: “This Pineleaf initiative, born from a passion for development, will help curb criminal elements. Crime scenes can be detected, monitored, and countered instantly. With this activation, Anambra will be crime-free within 12 months – a zero ground for crime.” He specifically commended ASMATA PG Chief Humphrey Anuna for his tireless dedication to market development.
Chief Anuna, visibly elated at the ASMATA control room, expressed profound gratitude to Pineleaf Estate Homes Ltd. He predicted that securing traders’ goods and property would lead to continuous praise for Governor Soludo, solidifying the project as a cornerstone in achieving Anambra’s “Dubai-Taiwan of Africa” ambition.
