Tears, Heartfelt Farewell as Mrs. Ekwunife, 55 Laid to Rest in Awka

Remains of Mrs. Nwanneka Cecilia Ekwunife (nee Okeke) of Umuogbu Village, Awka, have been laid to rest at the age of 55.

Ekwunife served as the Head of the Stores Department at Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital f(COOUTH), Amaku, Anambra State.

During the funeral service at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Most Rev. Alexander Ibezim delivered a sermon on building a personal relationship with God, emphasizing that โ€œyou may be in the church without knowing the shepherd.โ€

He urged the congregation to lead a Christ-centered life, acknowledging that death is a universal path.

Ven. Oranye described Mrs. Ekwunife as a devoted missionary who cared for the less privileged and left behind a legacy of practical Christian living. He encouraged her husband, Mr. Charles Ekwunife, to stay strong in faith, accepting Godโ€™s will in their โ€œperfect matchโ€ of love.

The Head of the Transport Unit at COOUTH praised Mrs. Ekwunife as a committed community member, expressing sorrow over her unexpected death. He noted the community’s plan to establish a foundation to support her child.

The burial ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, including Dr. Ossy Onuko, Managing Director of ACTDA, and Dr. Joe Akabuike, Chief Medical Director of COOUTH, along with family, friends, and colleagues who came to pay their respects.
