Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD) Anambra State chapter has appealed to Persons with Disabilities to take advantage of ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in the state to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC).
Chairman, Comr. Ugochukwu Okeke gave the advice in a statement on Tuesday saying obtaining PVC would enable members demand inclusion and avert being sidelined.
He added that voters card would assist in choosing leaders who care about their disability rights.
The statement reads, “My dear persons with disabilities in all the 326 wards in Anambra state, I humbly write to passionately appeal to you irrespective of the cluster group to rise up and do the needful now.
“The Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise is ongoing, it started on 8th of July, 2025 and ends on 17th July 2025.
“It is important for us to know that this is our moment to be counted, to be heard, and to shape our future!
“If you have not yet obtained your Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC), now is the time to act fast.
“It is only two days remaining! Your vote is your voice, and your voice matters!
“Why Should Pwds Register? To demand inclusion: Without your vote, your issues may continue to be sidelined.
“To choose leaders who care about disability rights: Participation is power.
“To say: “Nothing Without Us” and mean it.
“Resident Electoral Commissioner of the State has assured and informed us that we have Right to Priority treatment at registration and voting centers.
“Accessible environments and support services during the process. Full participation in all aspects of the electoral process.
“Even the security Agencies have assured us that maximum security will be given to us throughout the process.
“Therefore, don’t let anything hold you back. Let’s show Ndi Anambra and the world that disability is not inability. Go out now and register!
“Together, we can build a more inclusive democracy.”
