TRAFFIC OFFENCES: Anambra FRSC Convicts 36, Begins Clampdown on Fake Number Plates, Others

Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anambra State Sector Command on Thursday arraigned 38 offenders before a joint mobile court for various traffic offenses.

While 36 were convicted, two offenders were discharged and acquitted by Chief Magistrate A.N. Okoli who presided over the court proceedings.

Speaking after the court sitting, Sector Commander, Joyce Alexander reiterated the Command’s commitment to making the roads safer for Ndแป‹ Anambra and visitors to the State.

She urged road users to comply with traffic regulations to avoid penalties.

Meanwhile, State Sector Command has intensified its enforcement efforts to ensure compliance with road safety regulations.

Sector Commander said the initiative is targeted at reducing road traffic crashes through crackdown on fake or non-existent number plates, speed limit devices, and vehicle overloading throughout the state.

She said, “The enforcement of number plate regulations is crucial for security reasons. Each vehicle registration detail is linked to personal information about the owner, including their phone number, address, and name.

“This information can be vital in tracking and identifying wanted individuals, especially in cases where land transportation land transportation is the basic get-away mode of criminals, and perhaps the only mode as a matter of fact.

“The FRSC is committed to utilizing its extensive database of vehicles and drivers to assist in addressing insecurity across the nation.

“This effort is particularly important in Anambra State, where the Governor has implemented various measures to combat insecurity.

“We are dedicated to ensuring that both drivers and commuters prioritize safety in all their road activities.”
