The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has officially rejected any proposed political coalitions with other parties, advising its members and stakeholders to refrain from such alliances without proper authorization.

In a communique released following an extensive meeting of the State Executive Committee on Wednesday, the party cautioned its members against engaging in alliances with multiple parties without explicit consent from both the state and national leadership.

The statement, signed by Comrade Chidi Chidebe, Chairman of the PDP Anambra State, underscored the party’s unwavering support for Senator Ben Ndi Obi, South East Zonal Leader Barr. Peter Mba, and the national leadership.

Key highlights from the communique include:

1.Rejection of Unauthorized Coalitions:
The Anambra State Executive Committee has taken note of claims regarding an alleged political coalition involving multiple parties purportedly sanctioned by PDP leadership. We categorically assert that the National Working Committee (NWC) is not engaged in any coalition negotiations with any political party. Consequently, the PDP in Anambra State is not involved in coalition talks. We strongly advise our members and stakeholders to refrain from participating in such activities, which lack legitimacy and official endorsement from both state and national leadership.

  1. Call for Focus and Loyalty:
    We urge all loyal members of our party throughout the state to remain steadfast and dedicated to the initiatives led by our National Leadership, the Board of Trustees (BoT), the PDP Governorsโ€™ Forum, and other essential stakeholders committed to revitalizing our party’s standing. As the saying goes, “No man abandons his house because of weeds.” We trust that any member who seeks to undermine the party, having benefitted from it, will ultimately face disgrace.
  2. Solidarity with Our Leaders:
    The State Executive Committee reaffirms its unwavering support for Senator Ben Ndi Obi, CON, our esteemed leader in the state, and His Excellency Barr. Peter Mba, our South East Zonal Leader, as well as the national leadership of our party. We commend their efforts and fully align with their vision for peace, unity, and the restoration of the PDP as a beacon of hope for the Nigerian people.
  3. Warning Against Unauthorized Participation;
    We caution all party members in Anambra State to avoid any coalition meetings or political gatherings that lack PDP leadership approval. Participation in such assemblies will be regarded as anti-party activity and may result in disciplinary measures.
  4. Enforcement of Party Discipline:
    Any officer at the State, Local Government, or Ward levels whose name is found in connection with any unauthorized coalition will be considered to have exited the party. Such individuals will have their offices declared vacant immediately.

The communique added, “The State Executive Committee remains dedicated to maintaining party discipline, unity, and the core democratic values of the PDP. We encourage all members to stay vigilant, loyal, and committed as we work together towards a revitalized and victorious party.”
