Chief of Staff to Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra state, Chief Ernest Ezeajughi has dismissed reports claiming his Principal would soon join the All Progressives Congress (APC) as mere name dropping by rumors mongers.
He said those peddling such stories were out to overheat the polity, insisting that both APGA and the APC shear similar progressive ideology but not for the governor to dump his party.
There have been feelers that President Bola Tinubu’s visit is a secret ploy by Soludo to dump his party for the APC after the gubernatorial election in November 8, 2025.
He said, “I think I must be very categorical about it and let me make it clear that he is in APGA which is the All Progressives Grand Alliance.
“We have All Progressives Congress APC and both of them are Progressives but one is older while the other one APC is at the center.
“On that day of the visit Mr Governor urged Mr President to lead all the progressives.
“He is still in APGA and he is not going to APC and what matters is that they are all Progressives.
“So he still remains in APGA executing the Progressive agenda which Mr President shares the same ideology with the governor but that doesn’t transcend to his joining the APC.
“Previously APGA has always supported the sitting President and the political party at the center and it happened under Mr Peter Obi when President Good luck Jonathan was in the saddle.
“It also happened when Chief Willie Obiano was here and the then President Mohammadu Buhari was there as an APC President.
“And it would be the same again and that answers your question about defection to the APC.
“While those governors adopted the then Presidents the governors remained in APGA and that is the same thing and that policy has not changed.
“These story or rumors do not hold water and normally people would always go to town to say Gov Charles Soludo is joining APC
“However APC has a candidate and a running mate and are they saying that the candidate would be substituted with Gov Soludo and even after the election and he has won the election is he going to APC to do what ?
“We know that the election would be smooth and peaceful and Soludo will win but we are not going to sleep about that because we shall knock on every door and the 326 electoral wards in Anambra state.”
Ezeajughi further described President Bola Tinubu as a testimony to the fact that Mr President was desirous to visit Anambra to see for himself the quantum of infrastructural development already put in place by the governor.
“Mr Governor has taken bold step to transform the state in many ways in socioeconomic development as well as basic infrastructure
“The transformation is coming from all pillars including signature projects.
“I thank Mr President for coming despite the pressures from all comers and finally the eagle landed and that shows that Mr Governor is working and the progressives are working together.
“Mr President has found a partnership that works with his alliance with Mr Governor”he noted.
