Moghalu Urges Aggrieved LP Members to Set Aside Differences, Focus on Winning Guber Election

Labour Partyโ€™s Anambra Governorship candidate, Chief Dr. George Moghalu has urged members to set aside past conflicts and focus on the common goal of electoral success, stressing that internal unity is non-negotiable.

Moghalu gave the advice weekend while hosting members of the State Labour Party Caretaker Committee at his Uruagu, Nnewi residence.

The strategic engagement, which brought together of faction of the party executives, marked a turning point in reconciliation efforts and signaled the partyโ€™s commitment to presenting a unified front.

Moghalu, a former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), emphasized that he met existing disagreements within the party upon his entry on October 1, 2024, and holds no grievances against any individual or group.

โ€œI met this disagreement when I entered the party on October 1st. I donโ€™t have a problem with anyone. My only interest is in building a united Labour Party that can win elections and govern well.

โ€œIt is a privilege to have you all here,โ€ he added. โ€œLetโ€™s put the past behind us and focus on winning this election. I want one united Labour Party, because only together can we secure victory,” he said.

Dr. Moghalu further announced plans for a thank-you tour across the 21 local government areas in Anambra state to deepen grassroots engagement and energize party structures.

He also promised to ensure that both executive committees work together aimed at building a shared roadmap for peace and progress.

โ€œNo one can do it alone. Everyone here has a role to play in their constituencies. All of you would serve in the campaign council. With your support, we will protect the Labour Partyโ€™s interests in every community across the state,โ€ he said.

Reaffirming his faith-based approach to leadership, Moghalu said, โ€œMy Bible tells me that fortune may delay, but destiny cannot. It is God who lifts kings and brings them down. I ask that you continue to pray for me and trust in my leadership. I will not betray the confidence you have placed on me.โ€

The Labour Party governorship hopeful also pledged an open and inclusive leadership style that will involve regular dialogue with all party stakeholders at every level.

Reacting, Hon. Chidozie Sebastian, Chairman of the Anambra Labour Party Caretaker Committee, assured that the meeting marked the end of internal strife within the party.

โ€œWith this meeting, there will be no more factions in the Labour Party in Anambra State. What we have now is one united Labour Party, and we are all going to work together to ensure the success of the party in this election,โ€ he declared.

He also expressed strong confidence in Moghaluโ€™s candidacy, describing him as a unifying figure accepted across the board.

โ€œOur spirits accepted you even before the primaries. We were overjoyed when you emerged as the candidate. You are the best, and we pledge our full support,โ€ he added.

State Woman Leader Dr. Mrs. Ejezie Ifeoma pledged the overwhelming backing of women across the state.

โ€œPeople love you genuinely โ€” with or without money. When you train a woman, you train a nation. The women are with you,โ€ she said.

Comrade Obiora Ochiudo, Chairman of Idemili North Local Government, echoed the grassroots commitment to delivering victory.

โ€œMy dream is to see George Moghalu at Agu Awka. We will work tirelessly to make that dream a reality.โ€

The meeting concluded with a resounding agreement among party stakeholders to close ranks and move forward with renewed determination. With a unified base, strategic focus, and broad-based support.

Moghalu is positioning the Labour Party as a credible and formidable force in the 2025 Anambra governorship race.
