Environmental Sciences Emerge Male Soccer Champions at UNIZIK Staff Games

The Faculty of Environmental Sciences successfully defended their male football title at the just concluded Nnamdi Azikiwe University Staff Games, held at the Unversity sports arena.

They defeated Faculty of Arts 2-0 in a final that capped a fiercely contested tournament involving fourteen faculties and units.

The champions carried their superlative form through to the final, scored two well-taken goals of the boots of Dr. Aloma Anselem Chukwuma (HOD Urban and Regional Planning dept and Prof. Joseph Onyejiaka to settle the contest.

The Faculty of Arts took silver, while the Faculty of Social Sciences claimed bronze.

Reacting to the victory, team captain Dr Chiagozie Bert-Okonkwor commended his team’s discipline and cohesion, noting that those are the things that ensured they retain their title.

Other team members include Awotunde Babatunde Adeolu, Akabogu Baruch, Okwuchukwu Okeke, Amuzie Kanayo, Arize Chinedu, Orji Emeka, Ifeatu Anazodo, Surv. Emeka Ernest Okafor, Qs. Gideon Eze, Dr Peter Nzoiwu ( HOD Geomet- Geography and Meteorology), and Fidelis Anthony Dung.
