In a bold move to strengthen grassroots security and protect lives and property, the Ivite-Anam community in Anambra West Local Government Area has officially inaugurated the Agunaechemba Security Outfit alongside a Security Committee to coordinate security operations across the kingdom.
The inauguration, held on Saturday, June 14, 2026, at the Mmiata Anam Civic Centre, was jointly performed by the Mayor of Anambra West LGA, Hon. Mrs. Nkeiru Edith Ndive, and the Traditional Ruler of Ivite-Anam Kingdom, HRH Igwe Sunday Udorji Emmanuel Ozoemena (Igwe Oranyelu I).
The initiative is aimed at strengthening local vigilance, enhancing collaboration between traditional authorities and government, and providing a structured response to emerging security challenges within the community.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Ndive underscored the importance of community-driven security efforts, assuring residents of the council’s commitment to supporting initiatives that promote peace and safety.
“Security is everyone’s responsibility. Our administration remains committed to supporting every lawful effort aimed at protecting lives and property across Anambra West. Together, we can build safer communities for our people,” she said.
The newly inaugurated Security Committee was mandated to supervise the activities of the Agunaechemba Security Outfit, ensure accountability, and facilitate coordination between the outfit, the traditional institution, and the Local Government Authority.
Addressing members of the outfit, Igwe Oranyelu I charged them to uphold discipline, professionalism, and integrity in the discharge of their duties.
“This is a sacred responsibility. The peace and security of our people must remain your top priority. Work closely with community leaders and always operate within the law,” the monarch advised.
The royal father further assured the security personnel of the palace’s continuous support, while emphasizing the need for cooperation among all stakeholders to achieve lasting security in the kingdom.
Responding on behalf of the outfit, its leader expressed gratitude to the Mayor, the traditional ruler, and members of the Security Committee for the confidence reposed in them.
“We are deeply honoured by this responsibility. We pledge to serve with diligence, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the protection of lives, property, and the peace of Ivite-Anam Kingdom,” he stated.
The event attracted community leaders, youth representatives, traditional title holders, presidents-general of various villages, and stakeholders from across Ivite-Anam.
Among the dignitaries present were the Deputy Mayor of Anambra West LGA, Hon. John Ani; President-General of Ivite-Anam, Chief Sir Joe Onuorah Udoba (Ochudo Anam); Onowu of Ivite-Anam, Chief Albert Ude Onyekwe (Ugumsinachi); immediate past President-General, Comrade Cy Ofodile (Nwachimelueze); Youth Leader, Comrade Dennis Obiorah Okoye; Palace Secretary, Chief Augustine Nnachor; and several other community leaders.
The inauguration marks a significant step in the community’s determination to strengthen local security architecture and foster a safer environment for residents and businesses.
