The Secretary to the Anambra State Government Mrs. Chiamaka Nnake, has assured staff of the Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up (NFWP-SU) of the state government continued support toward the success of the project in Anambra State.
Mrs. Nnake gave the assurance when staff of the Anambra State Project Coordinating Unit of the program paid her a courtesy visit following her recent appointment.
The delegation was led by the State Project Coordinator Okoye Hope Nkiruka, who congratulated the SSG on her appointment and described it as a well deserved elevation that would add value to governance and women focused development initiatives in the state.
She explained that the purpose of the visit was to identify with the new SSG and reaffirm the team’s commitment to the successful implementation of the program, noting that her office would further strengthen coordination and help the project achieve its objectives.
Okoye also expressed optimism over the extension granted to the program, saying it would provide more time to expand its reach and positively impact more women across communities as the project has been granted new target of 6,000 Women Affinity Groups (WAGs) and additional three Local Government Areas for expansion and wider impact across the state.
Responding, Mrs. Nnake who also serves as the Chairman of the Multi-Sectoral Coordinating Structure of NFWP – SU Project in the state thanked the delegation for the visit and commended the team for its dedication to women empowerment.
She stated that necessary approvals concerning the program would be considered even as they await appointment of new Commissioner for the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning. Mrs. Nnake further pledged to continue supporting the program until it fully realises its objectives.
The Nigeria for Women Program Scale Up Project is designed to institutionalize WAGs and create platforms that expand economic opportunities for vulnerable and unbanked women across participating communities.
