Anambra Govt Warns Traders Against Crisis in Markets

Anambra state government has warned traders to avoid crisis as the present administration led by Governor Chukwuma Soludo wants better welfare for the traders.

State Director of Markets, Chief Frank Ilodiba gave the warning during the conduct of election to elect new executives of Nkpor Butchers Association, held at Main Market Nkpor, Idemili North Local government Area, Anambra State.

He also stressed the need for open door policy by the butchers executive led by Chief Onyia Patrick.

He told the butchers’ chairman that, “For your market to move forward you should embrace peace, love and development in order to key into the Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s all inclusive governance.

“You should ensure cleanliness of your environment especially your hall, put the necessary furnitures in place at your hall to look livable.

“Consult the elders when necessary and don’t bring in third party, manage your crisis by yourselves and avoid any act capable of dragging the image of the market to the mud and remember that the welfare of the traders should be paramount in all your undertakens in the market.

“Ensure good welfare for your members, show them that you care, if periodically it is even rice or whatever thing that you have you share to them to show that whatever money they contribute, they will not have mixed feelings but continue to contribute money when asked to do so with joy because of the judicious use of their money”, the market Director stated.

President General, PG, Chief Humphrey Anuna, stressed the need for all hands to be on desk for the progress of the market in line with the state government infrastructural development of the state.

He also commended the traders for the peaceful conduct of the election stating that for Onyia Patrick to have won the chairmanship election showed that he did well especially in carrying everybody along.

The PG stressed further that the executive should know that their call to duty is to serve the people and not to be selfish in piloting the affairs of the traders.

Also in his speech, the chairman of the ASMATA State Electoral committee, Chief Samuel Ifurunwa, advised the executive to carry everybody along adding that the state government is in love with peaceful election.

He also stated that one should persevere especially if he fails an election stating that it is just four years for the next election to be conducted and he will be elected if it pleases God.

Ifurunwa condemned in strong terms the poor state of the market abattoir and shades of the butchers and advised them to keep them clean at all time to avoid epidemic spread.

Earlier, chairman of Nkpor main market, Chief Paul Oyeka Okafor expressed satisfaction that the butchers behaved maturely during the conduct of the election.

He commended the ASMATA PG, Nkpor indigenes/executives, state Director of markets, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Industry and Commerce and others for urchering in peace in the market and commended Governor Soludo for the development of the state.

In his post election speech, the elected chairman of the butchers, Onyia Patrick commended the traders for finding him worthy to be elected to serve them adding that it shows they know he is a performer who carries everybody along.

He said that butchers voted for him because of what they want from him that include, having their own abattoir, land for ranching that will be two to three plots and renovation of their shades against rainfall and flooding during rainy season.

In his contribution, the butchers Electoral committee chairman, Mr Nwankwo Martins Onyedikachukwu said that the election has been long over due and commended the electoral body for the successful conduct of the election.

In their various remarks, Chukwuma Uzim – Vice Chairman, Obasi Chika – Secretary and Nnoli Anthony, P.R.O commended the state government, ASMATA PG, ASMATA State Electoral committee and others for the peaceful conduct of the election stating that it is the best election so far in the past decade in the state.

They expressed optimism that the executive will carry the butchers to the promised land stating that the welfare of the traders should be paramount.

Among those elected included, Onyia Patrick – Chairman, Chukwuma Uzim – Vice Chairman, Obasi Chika – Secretary, Cyprian Ngoka – Assistant Secretary, Chetachukwu Moses Aniukwu – Financial Secretary, Alegu Solomon Chibueze – Treasurer, Nnoli Anthony – Public Relations Officer and Chiadikaobi Agu – Provost.
