Ex-Aguleri PG, Okonkwo Buries Mum in Grand Style

Ivite-Aguleri mini-stadium was agog on Saturday, 28th February 2026, as friends, classmates, professional colleagues, and associates, businessmen, and celebrities attend the burial ceremony of Dr Innocent Chidumebi Okonkwo’s mother, Late Iyom Ugomma Okonkwo.
The funeral, the largest event in the community’s history, saw an impressive turnout of who-is-who in Omambala, Anambra state and Igboland.
The ceremony, held at Ama Ivite square, also drew guests from as far as Portugal, China, and Canada, including Singapore Lounge CEO, Base 1 global logistics ltd, Tony Moore Nigeria LTD. Over 150 vehicles made up the convoy from the Mortuary, with the corpse conveyed in the Charlote ambulance.
The burial venue, located along Dr Innocent Okonkwo Road, was transformed with decorations and photos of the deceased. The whole field was covered with rugs.
Entertainment was provided by Ikem Mazeli, Chibuzo Amanuke, and Chisco Umueri, among others.
An estimated 3,000 guests attended the event, making it a memorable occasion in Aguleri’s history.
Dr. Okonkwo, is a former President General of Aguleri Town Union.
