In a solemn yet dignified display of filial devotion, the Honourable Igwedinma Nwofor, widely celebrated as Ozo Ebubechukwu Awka, has stepped forward as a pillar of strength, rallying family members to ensure a befitting farewell for their late father, Ozo Dr. M.N.C. Nwofor (Ozo Enyikwonwa), of Umuogbunu, Awka, Awka South Local Government Area, Anambra State, whose passage has plunged the family and community into profound mourning.

The late Ozo Dr. M.N.C. Nwofor was a towering figure in both civic and traditional life in Awka. A distinguished holder of the revered Ozo title, he served with exceptional distinction as President of Ozo Oka from 2022 to 2025, a tenure marked by integrity, cultural leadership, and a steadfast commitment to the preservation of Igbo traditions. Beyond his public service, he was a beloved brother, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and in-law — a man whose life touched generations and whose memory the family is now resolved to honour in the fullest measure possible.

True to that resolve, the family has announced a comprehensive week-long programme of funeral activities, commencing on Wednesday, 4th March 2026, with a Service of Songs at 5:00 pm, where friends, family, and well-wishers will gather to celebrate a life well lived. The proceedings will continue the following day, Thursday, 5th March 2026, with the main Funeral Service conducted by the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka, Anglican Communion, held at the family compound, No. 1 Onwurah Street, Awka. In keeping with the rich cultural heritage to which the late Ozo Dr. Nwofor devoted much of his life, Friday, 6th March 2026 has been set aside for the Ozo Oka Funeral Rites and Condolence Visits, offering all who knew him the opportunity to pay their respects in accordance with tradition. The week of tribute will draw to a dignified close on Sunday, 8th March 2026, with an Outing Service at 4:30 pm at the Cathedral Church of St. Faith, Awka, Anglican Communion.

Throughout the preparations, Hon. Igwedinma Nwofor has distinguished himself not only as a grieving son but as a man of action and responsibility. Known for his deep respect for family values and ancestral heritage, and bearing the prestigious title of Ozo Ebubechukwu Awka, he has worked alongside family members to ensure that every aspect of the burial reflects the dignity and stature of the man being laid to rest. His conduct during this period stands as a fitting tribute in itself — a son honouring his father not merely with words, but with deeds.

The family kindly requests the prayers and presence of all who shared in his life’s journey.
