Anambra Commissioner Vows to Drag Mistrress, 29 to Court over Alleged Torture of Female Student with ‘Hot Iron’

Anambra State Commissioner for Education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh has insisted that the case of a female student of Community Secondary School, Agulu Awka recently abused by her mistress must be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction for determination.

The suspect, 29 year old Mrs Ede Osinachi of Ohafia Isielu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State is undergoing investigation for allegedly inflicting severe body injury on the student, Miss Ama Miracle, who happened to be her househelp with a hot electric iron.

Addressing the suspect in her office, the Commissioner who had directed immediate return of the victim earlier sent back to her people, said arraigning the suspect before the court would serve as deterrent to others who might get involved in similar breach.

She reiterated Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s resolve to ensure that the welfare of any child in Anambra State is guaranteed.

She warned that the full weight of the law is ready to descend on anyone for abusing any child in the State.

“The interest of Mr Governor in the matter is to ensure that every child in Anambra State school is adequately protected from abuse.

“The suspect must be arraigned before the court, to serve as deterrent to others who may have the intention of getting involved in similar breach.” Chuma-Udeh insisted.
