Wife of Anambra State Governor, Dr. Mrs Nonye Soludo says Gender Based Violence can end if the society can direct the right concerns and take the right measures towards the act.
According to her, empowering women and girls with education, providing quality and affordable health care access, opening up access to jobs and innovative opportunities are part of what needed to be done to end Gender-based Violence.
Mrs Soludo who also said that strengthening the social institutions can do a lot more in the advocacy than can ever imagine observed that the administration of Governor Chukwuma Soludo recognizes these important positions in Anambra State and have greatly changed the narrative in the area.
On November 25 202t, the Wife of the Governor raised a voice of action as the state joined the global community to commemorate this year’s International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.
Mrs Soludo noted that what these series of crucial fixtures remind the people is that they owe the campaign more, not just words and hashtags.
She said t’s really time to find practical solutions and change the narratives for good.
According to her, in a world where women and girls, especially, still feel threatened by the same environment and institutions that should ordinarily help them to grow, the society need to go beyond just talking about it but to engage in practical activism.
The Wife of the Governor noted that Eleliminating gender-based should be everybody’s concern att homes, schools, work and worship places, and indeed anywhere that accommodates human relationships because every woman must be protected, guarded, and supported to grow and flourish.
Mrs Soludo said at the core of the campaign is defeating the attitude of quietness from those who are facing different kinds of abuses.
She therefoee observed that everyone must understand that speaking up, talking to people and reporting to appropriate authorities are a major aspect of fighting the scourge.
