Candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC) in the just concluded Anambra State governorship election, Chioma Ifemeludike, has restated her commitment to building an equitable society where gap between rich and poor is balanced.

Ifemeludike made the assurance on Friday at the State Congress where she was returned as Chairperson of the party.

She expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the election, expressing optimism of what the new executive would achieve for the party in the state.

She described the Congress as important step in strengthening the party’s structures, validating membership and advancing mission of people-focused political movement.

She said, “I’m satisfied with the election and very optimistic of what the new executive is going to do for our party in Anambra.

“I say this because of conviction of my loyalty to the party and myself. I believe loyalty starts with oneself, standard and principles which has not changed.

“I still remain committed to building a society that’s equal to all, society where the gap between rich and poor is balanced.

“I believe that the AAC can make that reality happen. I believe what we did in the last election was little to what we’ll do in the days and years to come.

“We hope to see a party that keep growing, enlarging and spreading its tentacles through the local government, communities and villages.

“I’m very hopeful what this new executive will achieve in the coming months and years. I can attest to their credibility and capacity to oversea the party’s affairs.

While restating the party’s position of not contesting the outcome of the election, said we will rather engage our grassroots and sensitize the people to appreciate their role in politics and governance.

“The next agenda for us is the people because we’re pro-people. We understand some of the institutions that supposed to deliver justice to the people have been heavily compromised, including the judiciary.

“To prioritize our resources and time, we must engage the people. If only the people realize the enormous power they weild in democratic processes, then our society will be better for it. After all, the future lies in their hands.

“Under my leadership, AAC is committed to doing more work in the grassroots in partnership with NGOs and other relevant stakeholders to keep educating our people on dangers of selling our fundamental rights.

Chairman, AAC State Congress Committee, Ndubuisi Anaenugwu, described conduct of the election as seemless and successful.

He said, “As the chairman of the committee empowered to organize the election, I’m glad to announce that a new elected exco is birthed today.

“Everything went smoothly. Because power belongs to members of the party, the delegates took the decision to select the people to serve them in next four years.

“Mine is to ensure their opinions and heart desires were respected. At the end of the day, almost everyone was returned elected.”

On why the Congress did not record large turnout, Anaenugwu said the party did not need crowd to cause revolution that Nigeria desired.

“As a delegate Congress, we were not expecting a crowd. Again, it’s few persons that normally cause revolution.

“Biblically speaking, many are called, but few are chosen. Those who cause revolution that you call Christianity today were just few persons.

“So we don’t need crowd to cause the revolution this country is yearning for. Besides, the money the big parties are boasting of is tax payers money.

“We’re still using our funds to organize what we’re doing and that’s what we intend to change.

“Going forward, we’re going out there to win souls, they’re waiting for us to come and harvest them. We’re coming to empower the common man without power and voice.

“We’ll ensure equity, fairness and justice. The country you call Nigeria is already gone. Nigerians need AAC for them to move forward.

“With this election, Ndị Anambra will begin to hear our message which is a message of hope, restoration of trust and confidence.

“We’re going to take the people’s mandate back, according to our slogan because power belongs to the people,” he added.
