Class of 2000 Electrical Electronics and Computer Engineering graduates of Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Anambra state on Saturday put smiles on faces of orphans at the Daughters of Mary, Mother of Mercy Congregation
The group made cash donations, foodstuffs and toiletries during the visit which was part of activities marking their 2025 Silver Jubilee reunion.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman, Reunion Planning Committee, Engr Emmanuel Mbolu said the visit to the home was borne out of love and compassion for the less privileged children.
He said, “We penned down various orphanages, but after several deliberations and consultations with the spirit, yours was chosen.
“We decided to come with this token in support of what you’re doing which is not an easy task.
“We’re aware the job involves sacrifice, charity, compassion, time, commitment and others which we greatly appreciate.
“These gifts which include bags of rice, tubers of yam, cartons of beverages, toiletries and cash sum of N100,000 may appear small, but the hearts they’re given is what matters.”
While expressing optimism that the donations would be of immense benefits to the inmates and the home at large, Mbolu assured the visit would not be the last.
Responding, representative of the home, Sis Genevieve Okoro thanked the group for the gesture, praying God to grant them their heart desires.
“I pray that the reason for your creation will be achieved. May God remember you as you remembered us,” she said
