World Food Day: Anambra Agric Ministry, Stakeholders set for Farmers’ Solidarity Rally

Arrangements are in top gear for commemoration of year 2025 World Food Day with a Mega Farmers Solidarity Rally in support of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s re election bid, Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture has said.

The United Nations Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) has designated October 16 every year as World Food Day to promote global awareness and highlight the need to ensure healthy diets for all

Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr Forster Ihejiofor said the Ministry would collaborate with stakeholders in the sector to hold the ceremony.

He added that a lot of activities have been lined up for the event, including food fair and produce exhibition scheduled to hold on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at Dr Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.

According to him, this year’s world Food Day will be unique aligning its theme “Food Security, Shared Prosperity” with the revolutionary impact of the state government in the agric sector.

” This historic ceremony will mobilise over 5,000 farmers, processors, traders, and value chain actors across the state to celebrate the progress achieved under Governor Soludo, and to endorse his candidacy for re election”

The Commissioner testified to the positive feedback from farmers and other agric stakeholders regarding free distribution of economic tree seedlings, organic fertilizers and improved access roads to various markets, which have significantly boosted their businesses.

Expressing joy that government’s Farm To Feed Campaign had started yielding results to ensure food security, Ihejiofor, acknowledged that other programmes and policies of the Governor has continued to propel development of all the sectors.

“The farmers considered it worthy to speak to the electioneering season through the upcoming ceremony in support of good governance in the state,” he added.
