The Interim National President of National Cashew Association of Nigeria (NCAN), Mr. Ademola Adesokan had led a delegation of the association on a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Owan Enoh in Abuja.
Mr. Adesokan who congratulated the Minister on his appointment commended the federal government commitment to diversifying the economy through non-oil exports. He noted that cashew remains a vital agricultural commodity capable of boosting foreign exchange earnings, creating jobs and empowering rural farmers.
He assured the Ministry of NCAN readiness to collaborate on policies and initiatives that will enhance cashew value-chain development, processing and export.
In his response, Senator Enoh described cashew as one of Nigeria’s most promising non-oil export frontiers and pledged the Ministry support for initiatives that will strengthen production and attract investment into processing facilities.
He emphasized the importance of synergy between government and commodity associations to maximize agricultural potential and ensure farmers get fair value for their produce.
The meeting ended with a renewed pledge of cooperation between NCAN and the Ministry of Industry to position Nigeria as a leading global player in cashew production and processing.
