Stakeholders of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in Umudioka Ward Three, Awka South Local Government Area, have declared massive support for the re-election of Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo and his Deputy, Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim, ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election in Anambra State.
The declaration was made during an endorsement rally and inauguration of the ward polling unit campaign council held at Umudioka Town Hall.
In his address, Deputy Governor Dr. Ibezim expressed gratitude to the people and leaders of the ward for their solidarity. He reminded them of Awka South prominent role in Anambra politics, recalling that APGA had produced former governors Mr. Peter Obi and Chief Willie Obiano, both of whom served eight years each. He urged the people to sustain the tradition by ensuring Governor Soludoโs return, noting that the governor had fulfilled his promises by providing roads, hospitals, and infrastructure in Awka as the state capital.
Also speaking, the Awka South Campaign Council Chairman and Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko, described the rally as a homecoming, declaring Umudioka a stronghold of APGA. He charged the newly inaugurated polling unit campaign council members to deliver all votes for Soludo across the 21 polling units in the ward.
The Chief Executive Officer of Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA), Dr. Simeon Onyemaechi, said Soludo had transformed the state without borrowing, citing achievements such as free education for children, free antenatal services for women, improved security, and road construction. According to him, โone good turn deserves another,โ hence the need for continuity.
Also, the APGA Woman Leader for Ward Three, Mrs. Eunice Agunobi, praised the governor for easing the burden on women through free healthcare and education. She assured that women in the ward would mobilize massively for his re-election, adding that even people from neighboring states were benefitting from the education and health programs in Awka.
Earlier in his remarks, Ezinato Youth Chairman, Comrade Tochukwu Nwosu, commended Soludo for giving Awka a befitting stadium, modern flyovers and other infrastructural projects that, according to him, surpassed the records of past APGA administrations.
The rally climaxed with a colorful cultural display and masquerade performance by Umudioka Ward Three, which thrilled guests and party faithful.
