2025 Guber Race: Moghalu Hits Back, Says ADC Candidate has Nothing to Offer Ndi Anambra

Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Anambra election, Dr. George Moghalu has described as laughable but disgraceful comments by Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Ndubisi Nwobu on his gubernatorial ambition.

Nwobu had in response to a question from journalists on why LP Presidential candidate in 2023, Mr Peter Obi is supporting Moghalu instead of ADC candidate described Moghalu’s LP ticket as worse than tissue paper.

But Moghalu, in a statement on Monday issued by his Special Assistant on Media, Johnson Okoye described Nwobu’s comment as desperate attempt to stay relevant.

He said ADC candidate, John Nwosu has nothing to offer people of the state, insisting that he and his deputy, Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro remain the authentic candidates of the party recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as required by law.

The statement reads, “Our attention has been drawn to a ridiculous piece of misinformation being peddled by the Deputy Governorship Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dr. Ndubisi Nwobu, who shamelessly questions the authenticity of the Labour Party Governorship Candidate for the forthcoming Anambra election, Dr. George Moghalu.

“This is not only laughable but disgraceful, a desperate attempt to stay relevant by dragging the name of a man whose credibility and popularity are already established. For the avoidance of doubt, Dr. George Moghalu is the duly recognized Governorship Candidate of the Labour Party in Anambra State.

“The names of Dr. George Moghalu and Mrs. Ifeoma Okaro have been officially published as the Governorship and Deputy Governorship Candidates of Labour Party by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as required by law.

“INEC, not political jesters like Dr. Nwobu, is the only authority that determines candidates. No amount of falsehood, blackmail, or empty noise can change this fact.

“It is shameful that instead of explaining why his party is not campaigning for the forthcoming Governorship election, Dr. Nwobu has reduced himself to a daily routine of name-dropping Moghalu.

“Clearly, the ADC candidate has nothing to offer Ndi Anambra, no ideas, no vision, only blackmail, slander, and cheap propaganda. This is the conduct of political apprentices, not leaders.

“Ndi Anambra are too enlightened to fall for such distraction. They know the difference between a visionary leader prepared for governance and a desperate politician chasing clout.

“While unserious candidate like ADC deputy candidate waste time on lies and character assassination, Dr. George Moghalu remains on the ground, moving from community to community across all 179 towns of Anambra State.

“Ndi Anambra have continued to embrace his message of security, good governance, and prosperity. We therefore challenge Dr. Nwobu to show Ndi Anambra their candidate’s plan for the state, if they have any, instead of running from pillar to post discussing the Labour Party candidate.”
