The Anambra State Government has reassured land owning communities in Mamu Forest Reserve that it will not interfere with their enclaves in the proposed Awka 2.0 project area.
Commissioner for Lands, Prof. Offornze Amucheazi , gave the assurance during an enforcement visit to the site alongside the Managing Director of Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA), Dr. Ossy Onuko, the State Surveyor General, Mr. Chinedu Idigo and representatives of the affected communities.
Addressing community stakeholders in Awka, Prof. Amucheazi urged the leaders in Ndiukwuenu to avoid misrepresenting facts or misleading residents about the project impact on their land. He warned that any structure erected within the designated Awka 2.0 site without proper approval would be demolished.
Speaking on behalf of the Ozu community, its attorney, Victoria Chidi Akim, expressed gratitude to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo for his openness and fairness in addressing the concerns of the communities.
Also, in their separate speeches, representatives of the communities Chief Onyeka Onwurah, Chief Chukwudi Nweke, Councillor for Ndiukwuenu Ward, Mr. Emmanuel Uzodimma, Assistant Youth Leader, Mr. Chukwuemeka Maduorji and attorney Mr. George Okwudili expressed satisfaction with the clarifications. They commended Governor Soludo for his commitment to bringing development to their area through the Awka 2.0 project.
