Soludo’s Wife Applauds Idemili South for Championing Healthy Living Through Community Sports

AWKA, Nigeria — The wife of the Anambra State Governor, Dr. Nonye Soludo, has hailed Idemili South Local Government Area for using sports as a vehicle to promote healthy living, unity, and community development, describing the initiative as a model worthy of emulation across the state.

Speaking after the flag-off of the Healthy Living Sports Competition, sponsored by the Executive Chairman of Idemili South Local Government Area, Iyom Amaka Obi, Dr. Soludo said the initiative aligns with the state’s vision of building healthier, happier, and more productive communities.

In a statement issued on Saturday by her media aide, Daniel Ezeigwe, the governor’s wife noted that the Healthy Living Team joined residents of the council area to officially launch the competition.

“The Healthy Living Sports Competition is more than just a sporting event. It is a celebration of wellness, teamwork, and our shared commitment to building healthier and happier communities across Anambra State,” Dr. Soludo said.

She explained that the tournament was designed not only to encourage physical fitness but also to foster recreation, social interaction, and community spirit among residents.

Dr. Soludo commended the Executive Chairman of Idemili South, Iyom Amaka Obi, the council’s Healthy Living Team, and other stakeholders for their dedication, organization, and commitment to making the event a success.

According to her, the impressive turnout and enthusiasm displayed by participants demonstrate that the people of Idemili South recognize good health as one of life’s greatest assets.

She further emphasized that sports remain one of the most effective platforms for nurturing discipline, teamwork, resilience, and peaceful coexistence, especially among young people.

The Healthy Living Sports Competition forms part of the broader Healthy Living Initiative championed by Dr. Nonye Soludo, which seeks to encourage healthy habits, preventive healthcare, and active lifestyles among residents of Anambra State.
