Ihiala Local Government Indigenous Staff Association of Federal Polytechnic Oko have pledged their readiness to support transformative leadership of the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie.
The staff association led by their chairman, Mr. Ugochukwu Onuigbo, made the pledge during a courtesy visit to the Rector on Thursday 7th August 2025.
Mr. Onuigbo, in his introductory remarks, disclosed that the group came to congratulate and pledge their support to the Rector, following her appointment as the substantive Rector. He expressed their joy on the emergence of Dr. Awuzie who is one of them as the Rector and stated that they will firmly support her to succeed.

“We are solidly behind you, come rain come sunshine. We will always be available to perform any assignment you call on us to undertake at any time. We will never sabotage your administration”, Onuigbo remarked.
The group further expressed confidence in the Awuzie Rectorship to take the Polytechnic to greater heights. “You are a great achiever, your antecedents show that. We have no doubt that you will do exceedingly well as Rector. Already we have seen incredible transformation in the Polytechnic within the few months you came on board. It is also worthy to mention that your projects are of high quality”
The association equally commended Dr Awuzie for carrying out priority projects like the polytechnic printing press which prints quality answer scripts, the staff sports club which will afford staff opportunity for recreation and many other projects.
Responding, Dr. Awuzie thanked members of the association for their solidarity. She, however, reminded them that she expects their maximum support as one of them.
Awuzie seized the opportunity to call those that worked against her emergence as Rector to join hands with her to move the Polytechnic forward, stating that she has forgiven and has put things that happened in the past behind.
She assured them of her goodwill stating that she will never witch hunt anybody but will ensure that everyone who is due for anything gets it.

Present during the visit were the Deputy Rector Admin, Dr. Kenneth Ezekwe, Deputy Rector Academic, Dr. Nkiruka Akabuike, the Bursar, Mr. Stephen Udu and the Polytechnic Librarian, Dr. Nwabu Ezemba.
