“Teenage pregnancy kills career ambitions and destroys futures,” a Senior Secondary, Class II student at Girls Secondary School, Awka (Amaenyi Girls), stated during a visit from the Anambra State Civic and Social Reformation Office (ANCISRO) on Monday, June 30.

Over 100 girls at the assembly echoed their rejection of teenage pregnancy and condemned the glamourization of the ‘baby mama’ trend on social media.

Leading the ANCISRO delegation, Managing Director Chuka I. Nnabuife, along with Emmanuel John, president of the Foundation for Attitude Repair (FAR), addressed the students. The advocacy event focused on character reformation and the dangers of misleading influences, reinforcing moral values among the girls as part of ANCISRO’s School Outreach initiative in collaboration with FAR.

Emmanuel encouraged students to embrace good character as the foundation for success. He emphasized that many dreams falter not due to a lack of talent but because of poor character choices, often influenced by peer pressure and social media.

“To become great, you must plan yourself. Greatness starts with a clear vision and the discipline to follow it. Strong character is essential; values like self-control and integrity matter,” he stated.

He warned against teenage pregnancy, highlighting its impact on education, freedom, and emotional well-being. “One moment of carelessness or pressure can derail the dreams of many hopeful girls,” he said, pointing out that peer pressure and misleading media often lead to poor decisions.

Nnabuife stressed that strong noble values and planning are essential for success. “You cannot succeed by dropping out of school or succumbing to social media vices. Is that what you want?” he asked, to which the students replied, “No!”

He connected their message to Governor Chukwuma Charles Soludo’s vision for Anambra, emphasizing that a great state needs great people—especially young women who are mentally equipped and morally disciplined.

“The future of Anambra depends on a generation of responsible citizens who embody the virtues of our land,” Nnabuife stated, urging the girls to recognize their potential as the foundation for tomorrow’s leadership.

During the feedback session, students enthusiastically shared lessons learned and pledged to be more intentional about their studies and behavior.

In her closing remarks, Guidance and Counselling specialist Chioma Okafor thanked the ANCISRO delegation, praising the State Government’s commitment to values-based education and advocating for similar outreach in more schools.

“The message today is timely. Our girls need to hear this often. Thank you for planting seeds of greatness,” Mrs. Okafor concluded.
