74th Birthday: Emulate Okala’s Legacy of Excellence, Discipline, Patriotism – Moghalu Tells Youths

Labour Party governorship candidate and immediate past Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), Chief Dr. George Moghalu, has extended heartfelt felicitations to legendary Nigerian goalkeeper, Emmanuel Okala, MON, on the occasion of his 74th birthday.

Moghalu in his goodwill message described Okala as a national icon whose contributions to Nigerian football remain timeless and deeply inspiring.

He praised Okala’s illustrious career and unwavering dedication to the sport and to the nation. “Emma Okala is more than a football legend; he is a symbol of resilience, excellence, and national pride,” he stated.

Okala, who represented Nigeria between 1972 and 1980, was named Footballer of the Year in 1978 and played a pivotal role in the country’s historic triumph at the 1980 African Cup of Nations.

“Today, as we mark his 74th birthday, we celebrate his courage, discipline, and the immense glory he brought to our dear country. His legacy is forever etched in the annals of Nigerian sports history,” Moghalu added.

While offering prayers for continued good health and happiness for the sports icon, the LP guber flagbearer urged young Nigerians to emulate Okala’s legacy of excellence, discipline, and patriotism.
