Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) Anambra State Command has foiled separate attempts by suspected traffickers to exploit their victims.
Commandโs Public Relations Officer, DSI Onyinye Anene disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
She said first plot was uncovered during attempt by one Mr Amala Ihuoma to procure Nigerian standard passport for the victim, Miss Amumevi Somto with the promise of having secured a domestic job for her in Egypt.
“Another tip-off came on Sunday, May 11, 2025 through Anambra chapter of Network against Child Trafficking, Abuse and Labour (NACTAL) on involvement of a suspected recruiter, Miss Uchenna Adaobi, trying to transfer the victim, Miss Uzo Chineme to Lagos State for sexual exploitation.
“The unsuspecting victim had been lured from Enugu State where she resided and had been warned not to disclose her whereabouts or intentions to travel to anyone including her parents or previous employer at Enugu,” she said.
According to Anene, both cases had since been forwarded to National Agency for the Prohibition of Traffic in Persons (NAPTIP), Anambra command for further investigation and possible prosecution.
