Head of Local Government Administration, Nnewi South Local Government Area and Four Directors, HOD Works, HOD Agric, HOD Environment and the Council’s Internal Auditor have been suspended for absenting themselves from duty without permission.
Chairman Anambra State Local Government Service Commission Barrister Vin-Ifeanyi Ezeaka who disclosed this in a media briefing said the officers were also suspended over inability to effectively manage the 100 Staff of Nnewi South local government council.
He explained that the suspension followed his On-the-Spot-Check and attendance monitoring exercise in Nnewi South on April 29, 2025.
“As at 11am, the suspended officers have not reported to work, and out of the total staff strength of 109 staff, only 24 workers were present at their duty posts,” he explained.
Expressing worry over level of truancy and lateness in the system, the Commission boss urged workers to eschew poor attitude to work and be committed to their chosen career to justify their pay.
“I will not hesitate to wield the big stick on erring officers going forward,” he added.
