Tricycles operators in Anambra state have written a petition to the State House of Assembly over multiple taxation and levies they face in hands of illegal agents parading as government representatives.
The operators under the agies of Anambra Tricycle Riders Association (ANTRA) requested to be allowed to be independent and pay levies only approved by Governor Chukwuma Soludo.

Chidozie Okafor described the House as responsive, just as he thanked the lawmakers for standing firm and considering the masses’ plight in their business of law making.
He pledged the group’s total support to the Soludo’s administration, while encouraging members to always be prompt in payment of approved fees to government coffers.
“We always encourage our members to be prompt in payment of the approved fees to government coffers as they are being utilized in road construction and other numerous projects that impact on the people,” he added.
The House had during plenary, taken time to consider the report as presented by the Public Petition Chairman, Bar. Obi Nweke representing Anambra East Constituency.
The Committee expressed worry over numerous scavengers in the commercial city and across the state, reiterating that government is against any form of touting in the state.
“Collecting any fee from the Petitioners with the name of the state government is null and void and should be resisted.
“Anti Touting Squad should immediately look into the petitioners’ activities and flush all scavengers in tricycles’ operation across the state, including one “Governor Obosi” in Onitsha.
“Commissioner for Transport should give a written authority to Anambra State Tricycle Riders Association to manage its own affairs especially with regards to
collection of fees, rates, dues.
“The Commissioner should also ensure the Petitioners remit the agreed sum to the government as directed by the governor,” the Committee stated.
After reading the recommendations of the Committee, Nweke enjoined the law makers to adopt the report to stand as a working document of the House.
