A Kogi State indigene, Attabor Mohammed, has distinguished himself at Great Choice De Immaculate Demonstration School (CIDS), Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State, emerging as the Overall Best Graduating Student in Science/Commerce and winning the Best-Behaved Male Student award at the school’s 2026 Valedictory and Prize-Giving Ceremony.

Mohammed’s outstanding performance earned him awards in five subjects, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Economics and Marketing, alongside recognition for his exemplary conduct.

The ceremony also celebrated another outstanding graduate, Favour Okafor, an indigene of Obosi, who emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student in Arts/Management.

Okafor clinched awards in English Language, Government, Civic Education, Biology and Igbo Language, as well as the Neatest Student award. She also contributed to the school’s success in three external quiz competitions.

Speaking at the event, the Director of the school, Engr. Solormy Ochokwu, popularly known as Uncle Solor, charged the graduating students to embrace honesty, discipline, integrity, service, excellence and hard work, describing them as core values that should guide their lives beyond the classroom.

Ochokwu, who described the graduating class as one of his favourites, recalled their six-year journey through the institution, from Junior Secondary School 1 (JSS1) to Senior Secondary School 3 (SSS3).

He urged the graduands not to measure success by material possessions, wealth or prestigious titles, but by the positive impact they make on the lives of others.

“True greatness is not in how many people serve you, but in how many lives you touch. Remain focused, respectful and teachable, and do not be afraid to start small,” he advised.

He further expressed hope that the students would build successful futures while maintaining good character and contributing meaningfully to humanity.

“May your future be bright, your character remain noble, and your impact on humanity be unforgettable,” he added.

The Director assured the graduands of the school’s continued support and guidance, urging them to go forth and achieve great things as worthy ambassadors of CIDS.

The two overall best graduating students, alongside other outstanding award recipients, received cash prizes and various gift items in recognition of their academic achievements and contributions to the school.

In their separate remarks, Mohammed and Okafor expressed appreciation to the school management and teachers for their roles in shaping their academic and personal development.

They pledged to remain focused, uphold the values and principles instilled in them at CIDS, and deploy the knowledge acquired to make positive contributions to society.

The ceremony marked the successful completion of the graduating students’ secondary education and celebrated the school’s commitment to academic excellence, discipline and character development.
