The Chairman of the Obidient-Kwankwasiya Movement in Anambra State, Hon. Chief Tim Egboka, has urged the people of Anambra to lead the push for the emergence of Mr Peter Obi as Nigeria’s next president by demonstrating their support through massive voter participation in the forthcoming election.

Egboka made the call on Thursday in Awka after a State Executive Council meeting of the movement, where members reviewed their mobilisation strategies and preparations ahead of the polls.

He said the movement was intensifying efforts to build grassroots structures and mobilise support for Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), alongside other candidates of the party.

According to him, Anambra should demonstrate its commitment to Obi’s presidential ambition, given his record as a former governor of the state and the support he is reportedly receiving from Nigerians across the country.

“We must lead from the front. There is no way Nigerians across the country are showing support for the son of Anambra, Mr Peter Obi, and we will now lag behind,” Egboka said.

He described the forthcoming election as an opportunity for Nigerians to pursue the change they desire, noting that citizens across different parts of the country were seeking better leadership and improved living conditions.

“We, the members of the Obidient-Kwankwasiya Movement in Anambra State, are gearing up for the election. We are perfecting our strategies and putting structures in place that will help us achieve our objectives at the polls,” he stated.

Egboka maintained that the movement was determined to translate its mobilisation efforts into votes, urging supporters not to be distracted by political controversies or criticism surrounding Obi.

He said a strong voter turnout in Anambra would demonstrate the level of support the former governor commands in his home state.

“Anambra people should not be distracted. All hands should be on deck to make sure we make a statement that our own son and brother is elected the president of Nigeria,” he said.

The movement chairman also pointed to what he described as growing grassroots support for Obi across the country, particularly among young Nigerians who, he said, were seeking a better future.

He argued that the desire for improved governance transcended regional boundaries, adding that the movement intended to sustain its mobilisation efforts as the election approached.

Egboka further called on members of the movement and other supporters to focus on engaging voters and persuading them through the electoral process rather than responding to political attacks.

“Forget about the side talks and those trying to de-market Peter Obi. Let us go to the field and prove to the world that Obi is truly the best by delivering massive results,” he said.

He reiterated that the movement’s message was centred on voter mobilisation and the need for Anambra residents to demonstrate their political preferences through the ballot box.

The meeting, he added, formed part of the movement’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its structures and prepare its members for the forthcoming electoral contest.
