The Elite Youths of Anam Foundation (EYAF) has outlined plans to establish an Intellectual Hub, strengthen educational support and expand digital mentorship and entrepreneurship programmes as part of its development agenda for the next decade.

The foundation’s President, Dr. Christopher Ejike Anekwe, disclosed the priorities as EYAF prepares to celebrate its 10th anniversary on December 5, 2026.

He said the organisation’s ambition was to transition from being primarily programme-based to becoming a stronger institution for human-capital and community development.

“Our ambition is to move from being primarily a programme-based organisation into a stronger institution for human-capital and community development,” Anekwe said.

According to him, the proposed Intellectual Hub would bring together Anam graduates and undergraduates to promote mentorship, intellectual engagement and community development.

The proposed Edu-Support Fund is expected to provide a structured framework for scholarships, examination registration, back-to-school assistance, professional-course grants, skills-acquisition grants and emergency tuition support.

It is also intended to support library development and science and technical laboratories in identified schools.

Anekwe said technology would play an increasingly important role in the foundation’s next phase, particularly in digital learning, online mentorship, virtual training, beneficiary databases and opportunity-sharing platforms.

EYAF also intends to strengthen its ICT and data-management capacity to improve programme monitoring and the retrieval of organisational and stakeholder information.

The foundation’s priorities include education, entrepreneurship, skills acquisition, youth employment and leadership development. Anekwe said healthcare remained an area for possible future exploration rather than an established programme.

He stressed that the foundation’s immediate focus would remain on deepening its impact across Anam’s eight communities before considering geographical expansion.

“Expansion should never be pursued simply for publicity,” he said, adding that any future expansion should be guided by demonstrated need, organisational capacity, partnerships and available resources.

By 2036, Anekwe hopes the foundation will have a continuously updated beneficiary database, expanded scholarship programmes, stronger educational infrastructure, a sustainable Edu-Support Fund, a network of professional mentors and documented businesses and community initiatives created by EYAF beneficiaries.

He also identified leadership succession and stronger governance systems as essential to ensuring the foundation’s long-term survival.

The organisation’s broader ambition, he said, was to help change the mindset of Anam people from waiting for opportunities to creating them, while encouraging young people to view community development as a shared responsibility.

“The next decade will be a decade of institutionalising impact—building systems, opportunities, partnerships and leaders capable of transforming Anam on a larger and more sustainable scale,” he said.

EYAF was established in 2016 with a vision to raise and nurture new breeds of excellent leaders. Its motto is “Transforming Lives; Developing Our Communities.”
