FirstPower Electricity Distribution Company Limited has confirmed the arrest of two additional suspects over the alleged vandalisation of its DSS Annex B transformer at Enugwu-Agidi, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The company’s Head of Communications, Izunna Okafor, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, identifying the suspects as Chukwuebuka Charles Nwangwu and Chimezie Nwankwo, both from Awkuzu community.

According to Okafor, the suspects were arrested on October 7, 2026, by operatives of Operation Udo Ga-Achị attached to the Enugwu-Agidi unit over their alleged involvement in the vandalisation of the transformer.

He said exhibits were reportedly recovered during the operation, adding that a security report received by the company indicated that the suspects had confessed to the alleged offence.

The suspects and the recovered exhibits have been taken to Abagana Police Station for preliminary investigation, while efforts are underway to transfer the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Awka, for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The company said the arrests formed part of its sustained efforts to curb the vandalisation and theft of electricity infrastructure across Anambra State.

“The menace continues to undermine electricity distribution, disrupt supply to communities and impose significant financial costs on the company through repairs and replacement of damaged or stolen equipment,” the statement said.

FirstPower reiterated its commitment to collaborating with security agencies and host communities to identify and bring those responsible for electricity infrastructure vandalism to justice.

The company also urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities around transformers, electricity poles, cables and other power installations to the appropriate authorities.

It warned that the destruction of electricity infrastructure affects not only the company but also customers and entire communities that depend on the facilities for electricity supply.

As part of efforts to protect critical power assets, FirstPower called on members of the public to support its ongoing “Name and Shame” initiative by providing credible information that could help prevent infrastructure vandalism and electricity theft.

The company appreciated the continued support of security agencies and community stakeholders, assuring customers that it would sustain measures aimed at improving network security and service delivery.

The allegations against the suspects remain subject to investigation by the relevant authorities.
