Child Abuse Scandal: Police Arrest 36-Year-Old Woman, Rescue Four Children in Onitsha

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, identified as Anulika Onyeanusia, over an alleged child pornography case in Onitsha, following the emergence of a disturbing video online.

The arrest, according to the police, was made on the evening of September 10, 2026, after operatives acted on open-source intelligence concerning a trending video allegedly showing the sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police spokesperson, Tochukwu Ikenga, who disclosed this in a statement on Friday, said the operation also led to the rescue of four children, aged two, three, six and nine.

Sex toys and other items considered relevant to the investigation were also recovered during the operation, he said.

Ikenga said the suspect remains in police custody while investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged offence and determine whether other individuals were involved.

He added that the suspect’s husband was also being interrogated to establish whether he had any connection with the alleged crime.

According to Ikenga, “Anambra State Police Command on the evening of September 10, 2026, acting on open-source intelligence concerning a disturbing trending video of a lady allegedly using sex toys on a minor, has arrested one Anulika Onyeanusia, a 36-year-old woman, in connection with an alleged case of child pornography in Onitsha, Anambra State.”

He said the four rescued children were being prioritised by the command, which had directed that they receive appropriate care and protection.

The Commissioner of Police in Anambra State, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, described the alleged incident as “unacceptable,” particularly because it involves the alleged exploitation and abuse of children who are unable to protect themselves.

The police commissioner directed a thorough and professional investigation into the case, while stressing that the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the rescued children remained a priority.

The command said it would work with relevant child-protection and support agencies to ensure that the children receive appropriate care, counselling and other assistance necessary for their recovery.

It also assured that the identities and privacy of the children would be protected throughout the investigation and any subsequent legal proceedings.

The police commended vigilante operatives, bloggers and residents whose information, it said, assisted investigators and contributed to the arrest.

The investigation is ongoing.
