First Lady’s Visit: Police Commissioner, Security Chiefs Sweep Fed Poly Oko Ahead of Tinubu’s Arrival

Security was stepped up at the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, on Wednesday as the Rector, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, led the Anambra State Commissioner of Police, CP Nnanna Oji Ama, and other security chiefs on a final inspection ahead of First Lady Oluremi Tinubu’s visit.

The inspection came barely 24 hours before the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, is scheduled to visit the institution on Thursday, September 10, 2026, for the commissioning of major projects.

The security team moved through strategic locations within the polytechnic, inspecting access points, movement routes and other areas considered critical to the successful hosting of the high-profile visit.

Among the facilities inspected was the ICT Experience Center, alongside two other major projects scheduled for commissioning by the First Lady.

Speaking after the exercise, Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Dr. Chioma Irene Awuzie, declared that the institution was ready for the historic occasion.

“Preparations are in top gear. We are fully ready to receive Her Excellency, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the Rector said.

Awuzie described the visit and commissioning of the projects as a major milestone for the polytechnic, saying the occasion would further underscore the institution’s progress in infrastructure and academic development.

She appealed to stakeholders and people of goodwill to join the polytechnic community in giving the First Lady a befitting welcome.

CP Nnanna Oji Ama, in his remarks, commended the Rector for the arrangements put in place ahead of the visit.

The police commissioner also praised Awuzie’s administration for its achievements in infrastructural development, tackling cultism and related crimes, and promoting quality education within the institution.

With the final security inspection completed, the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, is set for the First Lady’s arrival and the commissioning of the projects expected to further boost the institution’s facilities and development profile.
